Mentoring at the Bistro

This week the Bistro began a summer partnership with the Young Professional Mentoring Program, an initiative of Allegheny Center Alliance Church. This means we will have three teenagers working with us every Monday and Tuesday for the next seven weeks. We have assigned each of them a mentor, a Bistro employee they will work alongside throughout the program. Our hope is this will give them an opportunity to learn the responsibility of having a job, grow in their understanding of the day to day operations of a small business, and experience what it is like to work among a diverse group of Bistro employees.

We are thrilled to have Kayla, Brittany, and Tray with us as this year’s participants in the YPMP.  We believe this program is going to prove quite significant in the professional development of youth in our community. Therefore, we see this as another opportunity for the Bistro to seek the common good of our neighborhood and city. But we also have invested interest in helping train youth to care deeply about vocational responsibility. After all, we believe this is essential to the future economic and cultural vitality of the Northside!

So please join us in welcoming these three teenagers to the Bistro. Come in on a Monday or Tuesday over the next seven weeks and encourage them to continue their hard work and dedication. It is only week one, and Kayla, Brittany, and Tray have already exceeded our expectations. Finally, as we invest in our young people and continue to partner with initiatives such as the YPMP, join us as we anticipate the good things to come both in their lives and in the future of our community.
