Spring Has Come to the Bistro! Did You Know…

Spring has come to the Bistro! I was enjoying a rare sunny afternoon in our courtyard with a couple who had stopped by, when our conversation turned to the lovely mural on the wall.

“Did you know we traded that mural for a wedding? Abbey Glover and Doug Graham, along with the team from Urban Impact, painted that beautiful work of art, and we donated their wedding food.”

That led me to think… what else will surprise you at Bistro to go?

• Chef Stanley, a retired steelworker, went to culinary school at 60 to turn his love of soups into a career
• Bistro mentors youth from Perry High School and Urban Impact
• Bistro does not use a deep fryer
• Our most requested menu item is French toast
• East Ohio Street was once a railroad path
• Bistro’s catering kitchen was once a record shop
• Our first wedding featured Indian food
• Our first delivery vehicle was a maroon pickup truck
• We began serving vegan food for a dear friend, Nick, to ensure he could enjoy a proper meal
• Chef Larry attended the CIA in “1886,” according to his team — but 1986 is the correct year
• The café was once a Chinese restaurant
• The café was once a shoe store
• The café was once a wedding dress shop
• The catering kitchen was once a dining room
• The courtyard was once a road
• The Artistry department was once a storage closet
