At Bistro To Go, summer is about more than great food. It’s about bringing people together, creating memorable experiences, and making every gathering feel effortless — from the little things to everything.
Few people embody that spirit more than Brandon Jackson.
Brandon first met Nikki Heckman at Allegheny Center Alliance Church, one of the North Side’s most diverse and vibrant church communities. Brandon was active in ACAC’s youth groups, and Nikki was “the lady who feed us snacks and meals,” he remembers. Before long, Brandon realized Nikki was also feeding hundreds of people on Sundays and running the church kitchen — building community one meal at a time.
Years later, their paths crossed again.
At the time, Brandon was working as a food and beverage director at a local hotel when Nikki was searching for a manager to help lead her growing restaurant operation.
“I was blown away by Bistro To Go … and also Nikki’s vision,” Brandon said. “So for me, it was destiny and a full-circle moment.”
Sixteen years ago, Brandon joined Bistro To Go as manager of our two cafe storefronts, which at the time included 415 Bistro To Go and 417 Bistro Soul.
“They were two beautiful restaurants that were busy daily out the door, with options of Southern cuisines, American comfort food and vegan and vegetarian options daily.”
Today, Brandon serves as Hospitality Partner and Catering Partner, helping oversee the events that define so many of life’s biggest moments.
“Now I am proud to say that I’m part owner of Bistro to Go, and the current Hospitality Manager in charge of all events, weddings, parties, galas and corporate events.” Brandon said.
A typical day might involve meeting with brides, coordinating with families, or helping clients bring a vision to life. Whether it’s a backyard cookout, a summer wedding, a nonprofit gala, or a corporate gathering, Brandon helps ensure every detail comes together seamlessly.
“I really love what I do,” he said.
That passion extends beyond events and into the broader community.
What is Brandon’s vision for Bistro To Go?
“That we can be a model for businesses that inclusion and diversity will always be a pillar in this community.”
Brandon plans to continue working alongside his mentor, Nikki, to keep that conversation alive with local businesses, chambers, and young people throughout the region.
For Nikki, Brandon’s impact is impossible to overstate.
She calls him “the heart” of the business.
“He captivates and charms with his home-grown personality,” Nikki said. “We grew this business together, and I couldn’t be more honored he is now a co owner and will carry the legacy forward.”
As Bistro To Go continues to grow, Brandon remains at the center of what makes it special: genuine hospitality, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to helping people celebrate life’s moments — from the little things to everything.
