Consider this: a vintage tea service in The Frick Pittsburgh’s Car & Carriage Museum. Perhaps you’re celebrating an upcoming wedding or a milestone birthday. In the museum’s community room, you are beaming with joy as your nearest and dearest savor scones with clotted cream, petite sandwiches and cheesecake bites while sipping on English tea stirred with dipped spoons.
It’s everything you were hoping it would be.
“As an arts and culture nonprofit, we are definitely putting experience first and foremost,” Gina Cazen, Private Events Manager at The Frick, says. “As a rental facility, we carry that over. Choosing to spend a special occasion with us is really important, and we really value that.”
As one of the venue’s hand-chosen vendors, Bistro To Go is a staple at Frick events from tea for 20 to a wedding for 200. Everything about an event, including its menu, is fully customizable. “Food is so personal, and so being able to have very well executed, very tasty, personalized food with your personalized event adds that extra layer for people,” says Cazden. Bistro To Go also caters for Frick board meetings and special receptions for members when the museum has exhibition openings. The current big show is French Moderns, as well as an exhibit of photographs of immigrants in Pittsburgh.
Time at The Frick, of course, isn’t just for special events. It’s an everyday opportunity to enjoy history, art and nature. The site’s Car & Carriage Museum, permanent art collection, greenhouse and grounds are all free to the public. For a fee, guests can visit rotating special art exhibits.
Stephanie Mirah, Manager of Marketing and Communications at The Frick says, “We are an organization founded by Helen Clay Frick, so we’re always trying to advance her vision of sharing her family space with the community.”
There is also, of course, The Café at The Frick with a variety of brunch and lunch options.
“It’s a really wonderful touchpoint for people to gather during the day,” Cazden says. “We have regulars. We have people that come on for the first time, and they’re so excited to have that pause to stop, get a coffee, get some lunch, and just hang out.” All the better, she adds, when the weather gets nice, and guests can sit outside.
Thinking about booking a private event? The Frick’s 2027 calendar for weddings and other large events is now open, and there’s still space for smaller events in 2026.
